Shreya Ghoshal postpones Kolkata concert due to doctor rape-murder case: ‘Deeply hurt by the heinous incident’

Shreya Ghoshal’s decision to reschedule her Kolkata concert comes at a time when women safety has become a widely discussed topic after the Kolkata case.

Singer Shreya Ghoshal on Saturday announced on Instagram and X that she will not perform in Kolkata in September as she is ‘deeply hurt’ by the recent ‘horrific’ rape and murder of a doctor in the city. In her long note, she said she has decided to reschedule her upcoming Kolkata concert. Singer Shreya Ghoshal has said that she will perform in Kolkata later.

What did Shreya Ghoshal say?

“I am deeply hurt by the gruesome and heinous incident that took place recently in Kolkata. Being a woman, even thinking about the brutality that was meted out to her is unimaginable and sends shivers down my spine. With a very saddened heart and deep sorrow, my promoter and I would like to reschedule my concert ‘Shreya Ghoshal Live, All Hearts Tour Ishq FM Grand Concert’, originally scheduled for 14th September 2024 to a new date in October 2024,” she said in the statement.

The concert was scheduled to take place at Kolkata’s Netaji Indoor Stadium but is now expected to be held on another date in October. Ticket prices are as follows Since 1749. The organisers said On their website they wrote, “Hey, this event has been rescheduled but watch this space for updates.”

‘I spray for the respect and safety of women’

Shreya further added in her note, “We have all been waiting for this concert, but it is important for me to take a stand and join you all in solidarity. I sincerely pray for the respect and safety of women in this world, not just our country. I hope my friends and fans will accept and understand our decision to postpone this concert. Please bear with my band and me as we stand united against the demons of humanity. I request you to be patient with us until we announce a new date. Over the past few weeks, Alia Bhatt, Kangana Ranaut, Kareena Kapoor, Karan Johar, Hrithik Roshan, Randeep Hooda and other celebs have expressed ‘horror’ over the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
