The Sidney Sweeney-starrer Christie has flopped at the box office, earning only $1.3 million in its opening weekend across North America.
Actor Sidney Sweeney’s disappointing performance at the box office continues. His latest release, the biopic Christy of boxing champion Christy Martin, has flopped at the box office, recording one of the worst debuts for a wide release in Hollywood history.

Christie, directed by David Michôd, will be released in theaters this weekend on November 7. According to Box Office Mojo, the film received a wide release on 2184 screens across North America. However, it only managed to gross $1.31 million in its opening weekend, resulting in an average of $600 per theater over three days.
It has one of the lowest openings for a wide release in North America. Box Office Mojo list Places Christie in the bottom 10 of all-time openings (except re-releases), with many pandemic-era releases performing better. The worst opening for a wide-release film was The Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure, which grossed only $444K in its opening weekend in 2012.
Even internationally, Christy hasn’t fared much better, earning only $39K outside North America. Its worldwide gross after three days is a disappointing $1.35 million. With a reported budget of over $15 million, Christie seems headed for a loss at the box office.

The film is the fourth consecutive box office bomb starring Christy Sidney. Earlier his film Eden had earned $2.5 million on a budget of $55 million. Immaculate and Madame Web also failed to reach their respective break-even points, according to the report. Sidney will next be seen in The Housemaid, a psychological thriller film directed by Paul Feig. It will be released on 19th December.
