The journey of Nagaland-based singer-songman Abdon Match believes you that dreams come true, but not devoid of conflicts. When Abdon started two years ago as a composer, he felt ready for cities like Mumbai and New Delhi. But over time, he became part of the growing movement of North East artists to build his fanbase from his hometown.

His decision finally paid, and the singer was recently in Budapest, as part of the Artisz Songbook Camp 2025 held in May, in which a total of 30 artists around the world were also seen. , Abdon’s participation was sponsored and sponsored by the Indian Performing Right Society (IPRS), as well as with the Task Force for Music and Arts (TAFMA) -Refma -Government of Nagaland. Abdon says, “I just realize what my culture and identity means for me and where you have been imposed, how important it is to bloom.”

He is now inspired by the goal of representing and accelerating the development among artists in Nagaland. The Naga representation made his time in Budapest as a part of the week spent in Hungary, where Abdon also sports a traditional Sumi Naga jacket.

It has been a five-year-long journey for the singer, which launched its first single ‘Again’ in 2020, made a hit with ‘Tech My Heart’ in 2022 and recently put a do-this open-air concert together in his home ground, in Dimapur, in Dimapur, thousands of people. He credits TAFMA and IPRS to promote on the way, where first (like many artists), he was not sure what copyright society did. He praises IPR for reaching Nagaland artists and encouraging them to become members. “For them, all the ways are coming to the North East and providing someone from this side to provide and providing inclusion, indicating that they are emotional about the whole scene, and not just one part of the country,” they say.

Abdon also believes that in the “lack of access” to the North East, the center has changed over the years with more talent to take the stage. “In the last few years, the development has been incredible as far as the original music is concerned.”

Where the cover bands were more likely to draw the crowd more, now the original music is staunchly supported, down to print the goods and sell the artists. “I think artists cannot take credit alone. It should also be given to consumers.”

At the camp in Budapest, Abdon came into contact with global music space and “how different cultures are made differently”. He adds to the reference to the learning, “I appreciate electronic dance music more because many of these were artists and producers who were incredible dance music artists. Just being with him and seeing that they have so much soul that they are classified to have been classified, which was something that I took away.”

Put into groups of three to four artists each day, with a daily task to produce a new song, Abdon was interacting with manufacturers, lyricists and singers. While the singer says that he has never worked within such structures and structure to bring a song in a day, it inspired to make several songs with colleagues from America, Hungary and other places.

He officially composed three songs during the hours of his song camp, but Abdon shared: “Everyone was so inspired that after the end of the day we will have these informal sessions, cooperate and make music by two or three o’clock in the morning.”

We can expect more compositions at the end of this year as a result of the camp, as well as with their single work – surrounded by the creative energy of Budapest.
