Paramount Pictures has released the first trailer for the film. Smile 2The much-anticipated sequel to the 2022 horror sensation. This time, the story follows a pop star, played by Naomi Scott, who falls victim to the same evil curse that manifests through sinister smiles.
The trailer features Scott as global pop sensation Skye Riley, who experiences terrifying events during her tour, starting with a frightening encounter with someone from her past, played by Lucas Gage. The trailer also features Skye’s fictional single, “Blood on White Satin”, which is sung by Scott.
Parker Finn, the mind behind the original film Smilereturned to direct the sequel, which brought back Kyle Gallner as police officer Joel. The franchise centers around a ruthless demon who forces his victims to commit suicide, and the curse transfers to those who witness the gruesome deaths. The first film ended on a horrific note with Joel witnessing the tragic death of his ex-girlfriend Rose Cotter (Sosie Bacon), which hints that Joel’s battle with the evil force is far from over.
New artists for Smile 2 It stars Lucas Gage, Rosemarie DeWitt, Dylan Gelula, Raul Castillo, and Miles Gutierrez-Riley.
Original Smile Initially intended for a streaming release on Paramount+, its unexpected theatrical debut was a box office success, grossing $217 million globally. This success undoubtedly prompted the studio to greenlight a sequel, which will hopefully establish Smile as a major film in the horror genre.
Reflecting on the sequel, Finn expressed excitement about expanding the universe he had created: “I think there’s still a lot of interesting things to explore in the world of Smile. There’s definitely some things I overlooked by design.”
Smile 2 Set to release on 18 October.
