Delhi-headquartered fashion label Cubic, founded in 2011 by Vrinda Sachdev and Gurinder Singh, recently opened its flagship store in Hyderabad. The 3200 sq ft store in Banjara Hills is spread across two floors and offers lehengas, pre-stitched saris, tuxedos, bomber jackets, sherwanis and more. Also present at the launch event was actress Sobhita Dhulipala, who was recently seen in the international film. A monkey-like man. In a brief chat, Sobhita revealed that she first met Cubic during a magazine shoot and was impressed by the quality and intricacy of their embroidery. Talking about her association with the label and the design principles of Vrinda Sachdev and Gurinder Singh, she said, “What I like most about this label is the blend of traditional Indian craftsmanship with modern style. Each piece has attention to detail and high quality. The designers celebrate our rich textile heritage and at the same time add fresh, innovative touches, making their designs both timeless and trendy.”
Sobhita says she has a deep love for Indian textiles and crafts and when approached for a partnership, she evaluates the brand or label to see if they share a similar vision. “I think meaningful collaborations happen when tastes and values are in sync, that’s the most important criteria for me.”
Among the films and series that Shobhita has been a part of so far are web series made in heaven Tara’s fashion choices stand out. When asked if she had a hand in planning her character Tara’s look, she said, “For season two, I was involved in shaping Tara’s wardrobe, particularly the emphasis on power dressing. Working closely with the costume team, we created outfits such as cinched waists and corporate suits that reflected Tara’s powerful personality in both work and private life.”
