This is the time of the year when mango rain falls, causing a promise of welcoming and aromatic, nutritious summer fruits from heat. While no one can predict rain these days, the city’s music lovers can definitely enjoy the Mango Showers Music Festival-a three-day program with a mixed bag.
When it was established in 2011, the primary objective of the Major Music Trust was to assist musicians of aging who were now unable to land or perform. However, the Mango Showers Music Festival is a fundriser to start its latest initiative – a scholarship fund for students who want to study music, but it cannot tolerate.
According to the trust’s founder Nesia Major, a scholarship fund was always on his card. “When it comes to Western classical music, there are no institutions in India for higher studies and students have to go abroad to pursue their passion,” Nessia says. “Now, this is not cheap and bank music does not offer loans for music studies because they think they are not financially viable reasons.”
Nessia says that a few years ago, one of his own students was motivated to run cash from the column, to raise cash for his education, to raise and run this fundamenter. She admits that while the event cannot generate enough money for every aspiring student to cover the entire tuition, it can reduce their burden and increase awareness, hopefully over time more students will benefit.

“All income from Mango Shower Music Festival will go to the Scholarship Fund.”
Bangalore -based composer Joy Sharma, who would perform at the festival, says he and his band were happy to be a part of the initiative when Nessia contacted him a few months ago. “We will play a style of music called Gypsy Jazz, a style leading by a Belgian guitarist, Django Renhardt,” he says, the audience hopes that “can remind Woody Alan with a modern touch.”
