New Delhi:
Hiramandi Star Sonakshi Sinha, who married her longtime boyfriend Zaheer Iqbal last month, recently opened up about her decision to wear her mother’s sari and jewellery for her wedding. Sonakshi spoke about her wedding attire after walking the ramp for designer Dolly J’s latest collection “La Vie En Rose” at the Hyundai FDCI India Couture Week 2024 on Saturday evening. “It took us five minutes to choose our outfits,” she said at the event. “It was very clear in my mind that for my actual signing and wedding, I wanted to wear my mother’s sari and her jewellery, I did exactly that… I was clear that I wanted to wear a red sari (for my reception). It was all in my mind and we made it happen on the day,” Sonakshi said.
She said, “I really think simple brides are going to come back. I had the freedom to enjoy my wedding because I was very comfortable and I could breathe, move around. I really didn’t put any pressure on myself. A simple but very beautiful bride… this is going to be the trend to come.”
For those who don’t know, the bride and groom wore ivory outfits for their signature ceremony. Sonakshi wore her mother Poonam Sinha’s saree and jewellery and completed her look with a sleek bun, while Zaheer wore an embroidered kurta-pyjama. Check out their pictures from the ceremony:
