New Delhi: A police complaint has been lodged against the famous singer Sonu Nigam by the president of the Bangalore city district district unit of Karnataka Rakshan Vedic (KRV) for allegedly making objectionable and provocative comments to make objectionable and provocative comments during a recent concert.

“Mr. Sonu Nigam’s statements are objectionable, divisive and harmful to communal harmony. They violate the following sections of the Indian Joint Code (BNS), 2023.”
The complaint further wrote, “Sonu Nigam’s statements have created a serious crisis for the Kannadiga community. Equaling a simple cultural request to sing a Kannada song with a terrorist Act, Mr. Nigam has portrayed Kannadigs as intolerant or violent, which is opposite to the public, such as his peace-affected and violent nature. Those who have a huge following, such statements create a negative perception of Kannadigus and Foster Division among communities, which endanger communal harmony. ”
“In this regard, I request that a complaint should be filed against Mr. Sonu Nigam under BNS section 352 (1), 351 (2), and 353, hostility, to promote criminal defamation, and to reduce linguistic sentiments, and this should be taken appropriate legal action for Kannadiga community and in future such divisive statements.

Members of Kannadigas and Kannada film industry have expressed strong displeasure against the singer on social media. Many supporters of Canada organizations have demanded a public apology from Sonu Nigam, some voices have also asked to ban it. However, citing its previous support and affection for the Kannada language, some fans believe that they should be given an opportunity to apologize rather than facing a full ban.
