After explaining his side of the story about the ongoing controversy through a video, Sonu Nigam took his statements on social media on May 05, 2025 (Monday) to justify his statements on social media, who have earned him back from the people of Karnataka. The popular playback singer was slammed by people on social media, when he rejected the demand of a fan for singing Kannada songs during his recent concert at East Point College in Virzonagar, Bangalore.
Sonu Nigam wrote “I am not a young child to insult anyone.” He further wrote, “I am 51 years old, in the second half of my life, and I am entitled to commit crime for someone, because my son has directly threatened me in front of thousands of people in the name of language, that too Kannada, which is my second language, when it comes even after my work, he was something else.
During his performance, Sonu responded to the demand that he did not like the voice of the crowd belonging to the crowd and compared the incident in Jammu and Kashmir to the recent Pahgam terror attack. The reference to the singer for a terrorist attack harassed Kannadigas, resulting in a case booked on him by a Canadian outfit for “provoking language hatred”.
Sonu said in detail on his Pahalgam context, “As a patriot, I am trying to hate anyone in the name of language, caste or religion, especially whatever happened in Pahgam. I had to do school, and I did, and thousands of students and teachers made me happy for it.”
Emphasizing that he has great respect for the people of Kannada and Karnataka, Sonu said, “I have honored my Kannada songs more than my songs in other languages including Hindi. There are more than 100 videos on social media as testimony. I have more than an hour of Kannada songs, when I prepare for every concert in Karnataka.”
A case has been booked by a pro-Kanada organization for “provoking language hatred”. The police have sent a notice to the singer to appear before him for questioning. Opening the case, Sonu said, “I leave to decide to decide to decide what is the mistake here. I will accept your decision with grace. I fully respect and trust Karnataka’s law agencies and police and I will follow whatever I am required. I will obtain divine love from Karnataka.”
