Special tribute concert for famous singer SPB to be held in Bengaluru on December 8

Bengaluru: A concert dedicated to legendary singer SP Balasubramaniam will be held at the Prestige Center for Performing Arts in Bengaluru on December 8, the singer’s son SPB Charan said on Thursday. Announcing the concert at a press conference, Charan said, “It will not only be a tribute to my appa, but we will also use the proceeds from it to build his memorial in Chennai.” The memorial, designed by architect Vinu Daniel, is already being built at his farm at Thamaraipakkam in Tiruvallur district near Chennai, he said. Charan said, he decided to organize the concert in Bengaluru because Kannada singers were interested in contributing towards SPB’s memorial. “Also, in Chennai, we organize an SPB tribute concert almost every week. I participate in most of them. So, a special concert in Chennai will not have the same appeal as it would in Bengaluru,” admitted Charan. He also assured that the concert will include popular Kannada songs originally sung by SPB and apart from him, songs will be performed by renowned playback singers Rajesh Krishnan and Vijay Prakash. Later, speaking to PTI on the sidelines of the press conference, Charan said the memorial will be constructed entirely from around 12,000 waste tyres. “Our architect is exploring a technique called unstable tire masonry for walls. Waste tires will be packed with clay and then coated with clay plaster to ensure that the inside of the building remains intact without any active The cooling system will be 5-6 degrees cooler than outside and will be the perfect solution to beat the scorching heat of the region, Charan said, adding that the memorial will also include a museum, auditorium, mausoleum and cafeteria.
