South Korean actor O Yong Su, is known for his role as Oh Il Naam (Player 001) in Netflix’s hit series Squid gameAfter being found guilty of indecent attack, one year prison has been sentenced.
The 80 -year -old actor was accused of forcibly tampering with a woman on two occasions, although he maintained his innocence during his appeal test.
The prosecution presented its final arguments on Thursday, 3 April, which features O Yong SU as an experienced actor with nearly five decades, who “sexually harassed a powerless junior member of theater troupe.”
According to Korean media reports, the prosecutors argued that the victim had been living in fear “both at work and daily life” since the incidents. He also noted that instead of apologizing to the victim, the actor allegedly said, “I did it with a father’s heart.”
The prosecution said that the statements of O Yong SU were constant, since the allegations were revealed, established their credibility and requested a one -year jail sentence to support the victim’s recovery and to prevent similar crimes.
O Yong Su’s defense team elected all the allegations, arguing that the victim’s statement was the only evidence against him and claiming his testimony, “there is a lack of uniqueness, stability and logical harmony.”
His lawyers also suggested that when the allegations were revealed, Hey Yeong Su recently received the “global meditation due to the squad game” and only formally responded to the allegations to avoid controversies affecting the show.
Speaking in the court, O Yong Su expressed regret about his situation, saying, “I am ashamed to stand in court at this age. If my words or actions were wrong, I will accept the results. However, even at the reflection, I do not believe that I have not done any work that can be considered an attack.”
The actor said, “If my careless words and actions hurt someone in our brief acquaintance, I regret it. My 80 -year life has collapsed in a moment, and I feel empty. I just want to return to my place.”
The allegations refunded the date of 2017 when O Yeong Su allegedly forcibly hugged and kissed the victim near his residence, which he refused. Initially, the jail was sentenced to eight months in jail with a two -year probation period, the latest decision has extended its sentence to one year imprisonment. The final decision in this appeal case will be announced on 3 June.
