SS Rajamouli, Chiranjeevi, Kangana Ranaut wish youngest world chess champion D Gukesh

Mumbai: Members of the Indian film fraternity including Kangana Ranaut, SS Rajamouli, Ayushmann Khurrana and Jr NTR praised D Gukesh after his historic win at the World Chess Championship.

De Gukesh created history by becoming the youngest world champion in chess by defeating China’s Ding Liren in a 14-game match on Thursday.

The 18-year-old from Chennai took advantage of Ding’s mistake in the winner-take-all 14th game to dethrone the champion, winning the match 7.5 to 6.5 and becoming only the second Indian to win the World Chess Champion title.

At the age of just 18, Gukesh defeated China’s Ding Liren with a score of 7.5-6.5, making him the second Indian after Viswanathan Anand to achieve this significant feat.

Celebrities took to their social media handles to wish the chess star.

SS Rajamouli wrote: “India strikes again! Congratulations to @DGukesh on becoming the world’s youngest chess champion and making the country proud on the global stage. Jai Hind!”

Chiranjeevi Konidela said: “Wow!!!! Just wow!!! My heart swells with pride dear @DGukesh!!! What an amazing accomplishment!! India is very proud of you!! 18th World Chess Champion at the age of 18 and only the second Indian in history!!!! On top of that, becoming the youngest ever World Champion!!!! India Rising My India Great!!!

Calling it a historic day for India, Kangana Ranaut wrote: “Wow!! An amazing and historic day for Indian chess. The nation is extremely proud of young #gukeshdommaraju who has become the youngest chess player (18 years) to win the World Chess Championship #woldchampion.

A proud Jackie Shroff wrote: “D. Gukesh made India proud by winning the 2024 FIDE World Chess Championship, becoming the youngest ever World Chess Champion. Congratulations”

Jr NTR wished Gukesh “many more victories”.

He wrote: “Grand salute to India’s genius and world’s youngest chess champion @DGukesh. Many more victories in your journey to greatness. keep shining!”

Ayushmann Khurrana recently posted a news article which mentioned: “India’s Gukesh Dommaraju becomes the youngest chess world champion at the age of 18.”
