Stray Kids achieve historic feat on US Billboard 200 chart with their new album ATE

Stray Kids achieved historic success on the Billboard 200 chart with their mini album, ATE.

K-pop sensation, Stray Kids achieved a new milestone with their new mini album ATE. The 7-member group is the first group in history to have 5 consecutive No. 1 entries on the US Billboard 200 chart with the release of their new album. Stray Kids released their mini album on July 19, 2024. The album contained 4 songs namely, Mountain, Jejem, I Like It and Chak Chak Boom, the last of which was also a part of the official soundtrack of Marvel’s Deadpool and Wolverine.

Stray Kids achieves historic milestone

Billboard’s official website released a preview article revealing the South Korean K-pop group’s latest album ATE topped the US Billboard 200 chart on Sunday, July 28. The album topped the chart by selling 232,000 album units in the US in its first week. Therefore, ATE marked Stray Kids’ fifth consecutive entry at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. This followed their previous album ODDINARY which released in March 2022, MAXIDENT which released in October 2022, ★★★★★ (5-STAR) released in June 2023, and ‘樂-STAR’ released in November 2023, as reported by AllKpop.

Their consecutive entries at the top of the Billboard charts have made them the first group in Billboard history to have five consecutive albums debut at No. 1. Globally, they are second only to DMX to have five consecutive albums debut at No. 1 on the Billboard charts.

Stray Kids made their first global mark with the success of Odinary and soon expressed their goal of dominating the global market.

Stray Kids continue their success with A.T.E.

The K-pop group’s representative company, JYP Entertainment, has projected ATE to be the best-selling K-pop album of the year 2024 and the sixth best-selling album for any album sold in 2024. Out of the 232,000 album units sold, 218,000 were album sales making ATE the best-selling album of 2024 worldwide, followed by Taylor Swift’s last release, The Tortured Poets Department. The top album sales title for the week of August 3 also went to Stray Kids and their title track Chak Chak Boom debuted at number 30 on the UK Official Singles Chart Top 100.

The K-pop group will next headline Lollapalooza Chicago on August 2, ending the summer festival on a high note, followed by their Stray Kids World Tour – Dominate. This will be the group’s biggest tour to date, kicking off with four concerts in Seoul on August 24-25, 2024 and August 31 and September 1, 2024.
