Thiruvananthapuram: Malayalam superstar Mohanlal has been admitted to a private hospital in Kochi after he complained of fever and breathing problems. The actor returned to Kochi after shooting for the Gujarat schedule of the big budget action film ‘L2 Empuraan’.
He was also involved in the post-production works of his directorial debut ‘Barroz’. The hospital said Mohanlal needs to take complete rest for five days and should avoid going to crowded places until he recovers completely.
In a statement on Sunday, Kochi’s Amrita Hospital said: “This is to certify that I have examined Mr Mohanlal, a 64-year-old male, MRD No. 1198168. He complained of high fever, difficulty in breathing and generalised myalgia. He is suspected to have a viral respiratory infection. He has been advised rest for five days along with medications and avoiding crowded places.”
In his four-decade-long career, Mohanlal has acted in more than 400 films. He was awarded India’s highest civilian awards Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan in 2001 and 2019 respectively.
He is also a Lieutenant Colonel in the Territorial Army. He has won five National Awards, including two for Best Acting, a Special Jury Mention and a Special Jury Award for Acting as well as another award as the producer of the Best Feature Film. He has also won the Kerala State Film Award as Best Actor nine times.
Mohanlal has also worked in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu films. Mohanlal’s first directorial venture ‘Barroz’ will release on October 2 this year, just before the start of the nine-day Navratri festival. It was scheduled to release on March 28, 2024, but the film’s team decided to postpone the release citing delays in post-production.
