The Supreme Court on Thursday ordered public screening of the film. Our Twelve At present it has been postponed.

The vacation bench headed by Justice Vikram Nath passed the order on a plea filed by Azhar Basha Tamboli, represented by Fauzia Shakeel, who alleged that “the theme, explicit scenes and dialogues of the movie are not only hurtful, hurtful and derogatory to the feelings of the entire Muslim community but are of such a nature that it is likely to incite hatred against Muslims in society, disturb harmony, public order etc”.

Mr Tamboli had approached the Supreme Court against the Bombay High Court’s interim decision withdrawing its own injunction order of June 5 against the release of the film.

The Supreme Court refused to consider the merits of the case, as the writ petition challenging the release of the film was still pending in the High Court.

“Considering the facts and circumstances of the case and more particularly the fact that the writ petition is still pending before the High Court and the orders are interim in nature, we dispose of the present petition and request the High Court to decide the pending writ petition as early as possible and till the petition is disposed of, [by the High Court]”The exhibition of the film in public places shall remain suspended,” the Supreme Court directed.
