On July 23, 2025 on Surya’s 50th birthday, Hindu Brings a special explosion from the past to you – more than 20 years ago – when Jyotika interviewed Suriya about working with each other, they would not allow them to happen. This article appeared exclusively Hindu On May 11, 2004. SR Ashok Kumar Recorded Celebrity Chat.
Jyotika chatted with Suriya: Should gossip should disturb our peace? ,
Jyotica: When you started as an actor, you were less on confidence. But to acquire the pancake of an experienced actor, you only took some films. Can you put your finger on ‘that one film’, which marked the transition for a temporary to self-blessing artist?
Suriya, Nandha (2001). The film made me realize that you can be on the right path, only when you keep yourself away from the beaten track. In offbeat roles, there is a tremendous scope for acting. Director Bala has also played a great role in my change. As friends and guides, they have also changed salute in my ‘real’ life.

Jyotica: Can we do a flashback and see Surya a school boy?
Suriya, (A resignation well with If-U-Vent-to Smile) At school, I liked Chhaya in the headlines. Even during school festivals and programs, I would prefer to work behind the curtain. I was reserved, sometimes considered a disinterest (Laughing)When I reached college, I started opening. Nevertheless, I was far from being a calm friend. I only wore slippers, taunting my friends. If I had wearing shoes, my friends would ask me if this is my birthday (LaughsThen slowly I came out of my cocoon. I was also part of the NSS and the college union. I will help in organizing tasks.

Jyotica: As you preferred for offbeat roles, I am sure you must have caught the offer to work in AVM Parazhagan ,
Suriya: you said it! Pithamagan (2003)One eye was opening. This showed me that Grotsk could be attractive. As Parazhagan I have enabled me to portray an offbeat character, this is a film after my heart. When I saw the original Malayalam version, I told myself that I can improve what Dilip did. Parazhagan For me there will also be special for another reason – I play a dual role for the first time. ‘Chioavar’ is so complete that after watching the film, many find it difficult to convince themselves that it was Suriya who played Hunchaback. Well, you have also played a double role in the film. And you are also one of the characters of your essay as an essay. Your thoughts on the film? (Smiling)
Jyotica: The film is even after my heart. And for equal reasons. I play a dual role. One of them belongs to a blind girl. Both roles are very deep. After doing this film, I feel more than an actress as I ever did. When you see that most of the movies are heroes, I can only thank my stars for taking off this one. Hey, do you remember when it was officially announced that I would pair with you in the film, then gossip mills were grinding overtime? There were unpleasant allegations that you were recommending me to play the heroine.
Suriya: Ah! Let’s tongue wag! Why should we allow gossip to disturb our peace? The whole world knows that you were chosen as a heroine Powellum Ketupar Long before the name of the hero. Abbas actually had to play the role of a hero, but, as it worked, Mental fell on me. Related to Uyil Kalaththu (2000), the manufacturer came to place and requested you to act as a heroine. with Parazhagan Also, you were the manufacturer’s choice. It was so impressed that Guhan was with your performance Priyamana Thoi (2003) that he will play the role of a blind girl.

Jyotica: You have worked with the ‘N’ number of the heroines. So, you should be in a position to judge my performance as a heroine …
Suriya, (With a well this-one-one-task-task look) This is a long shot that distinguishes good actors from average. Only a good actor or actress can successfully pull a long shot. I have seen that you do a lot of time. Another quality that makes you single is your commitment. During Powellum Ketupar (1999), you burnt midnight oil and recalled the dialogue as if you had to sit for an exam the next morning. That you carefully take care of the selection of costumes and makeup highlight your professionalism. You are the first choice of many directors and actors because you are ready to contribute to a film, as much as you have. They find your suggestions and comments priceless. Here is my decision: You are the best in the industry now!

Jyotica, (One with you-with a smile of my day-to-day smile) Thank you very much! What do you like as a person?
Suriya: You have many great qualities, but your feeling of humor beats everything for a mile. Laughter lines have a great help on your ability to flow. I never saw you shouting at anyone. You respect another person’s place as much as you keep your value. You stay miles away from wearing a bad dress or act in a scene that is not decent. For these reasons, I count you as a particular.
