This Saturday, while fans were eagerly waiting for Swarathma to rock the stage, an unexpected guest appeared – the rain. However, this did not dampen the enthusiasm of the audience and the audience enthusiastically welcomed the band’s powerful performance as well as the rain.
The Bengaluru-based folk and rock band kicked off the Swarathma India Tour 2024 from Mumbai on May 25, after which they hit their home turf. The tour celebrated their latest album. Roshan, It was a pledge towards making eco-friendly entertainment common and was powered by solar energy. The initiative was conceptualised in collaboration with Sustain Plus Energy Foundation and Selco Foundation.
Tulu singer-songwriter Praveen Alva of Alva Kuto opened the concert. Light drizzle, which started at that time, did not stop the audience from enjoying the melodious Tulu tunes.The songs were an indication of how the rest of the evening would go.

It was a great occasion for the members of Swarathma – Vasu Dixit, Jishnu Dasgupta, Varun Murali, Sanjeev Nayak and Vinay Ramakrishnan to take the stage. They enthralled the audience with some of their best hits from ‘Manwa’ to ‘Topiwale’. As they started their song dedicated to the earth, ‘Ee Bhoomi’, the rains really made their presence felt but that didn’t stop the fans from grooving to their songs.
Anagha Hari, a resident of Whitefield, said, “I wondered if they would cancel the concert because of the rain, and I had no hope that they would go ahead with it. But luckily, that didn’t happen. It was a wonderful night with Swarathma and the rain.”
Eventually, the umbrellas opened and the band’s loud songs gave way to softer tunes, and people swayed in the rain. A series of their hit songs and their recent unreleased Tamil track left the crowd very happy and for some ardent fans, there was no reason to dance in the rain.

“I have been a huge fan of Swarathma for over a decade, and this concert was spectacular by any standards. Singing in the rain with the band was a great way to relieve stress,” said Raima R, another participant.
Lead singer and guitarist Vasu Dixit declares, “The last time we came to this same venue, about five or six years ago, it started raining and the show was cancelled. But this time the rain didn’t deter the people of Bangalore!”
Once again Bengaluru residents have proved that their love for music is at a whole different level.
