What Sidney said about the final scene

During the interview, Sidney explained the process of conceptualizing the ending with the director and said, “We have ideas in our head, but we’re never going to discuss it… There was an animatronic thing that was there. We shot it several ways. What you’re seeing is actually the first take that we shot, and then we took two more takes that covered our bases in case we wanted to show different angles, but our tendency was always to never show it, and so we opted for our first take.”

Both the director and the actor felt it would be best not to show what her character gives birth to, and to leave it entirely to the audience’s imagination. The film ends with a wild scream from her character. “It was one of those moments where we blocked the camera and then Mike said, ‘Okay, Syd, what do you think you want to do?’ And I said, ‘Let’s just go for it and see what happens.’ And then that’s what happened,” she said.

About Immaculate

The film’s official synopsis states that Sidney plays “an American nun named Cecilia, a religious believer who embarks on a new journey to a remote convent in the picturesque Italian countryside. Cecilia’s warm welcome soon turns into a nightmare as it becomes clear that her new home hides a horrifying secret and unspeakable horrors.”

Apart from Sidney, Immaculate also stars Alvaro Morte, Benedetta Porcaroli, Dora Romano, Giorgio Colangeli and Simona Tabasco. The film released in India on July 19.
