Actor Tamannaah Bhatia has finally addressed a long criticism of a controversial scene of ‘Bahubali: The Beginning’, in which her character Avantika has shared a song sequence with Prabhas’s character. The scene was previously called for its objectives and was labeled by some viewers, but Tamannaah came forward to offer a fine perspective.
Talking to Lallantop, Tamanna said that criticism stems from a deep social issue contained in shame and control.
People use shame and guilt as a tool: Tamannaah
“This is to take mine,” said Tamannaah. “Jab log aapko control nahi kar sakte, woh ek technique istemaal karte aur woh hai sham and crime.
He further said that the natural aspects of life are often seen through a distorted lens in Indian society. “Which is itany pure cheese, ussi ko ham sabse gandi nazar se dekthe hai … We are very repressed,” she said.
Rajamouli’s vision for Avantika
Recalling how director SS Rajamouli picked him up the scene, Tamannaah told that it was away from exploited. “I remember when Rajamouli sir was explaining to me that I was the whole sequence, she was so, ‘she is the divine woman who is injured … she wants to love. But she has gone through a lot of difficulty … so, she holds boundaries.”
She shared that the scene showed a change, Avantika again saw her soft side through affection shown by Prabhas’s character. “Agar aapko yeh blind darshan pade, toh there was a complete sequence … jab apna khud ka cherada dekhti hai… Arrey mujhe se lagta tha ke … apni jo namrata hai wo namrata hai wo kahi na kahi gum ho gum ho gayi thi.”
All this is about the perception. I don’t think this is ‘Avantika’s rape,’ I think this Avantika is looking for herself through the man who wooes her. ,

‘This was not the rape of Avantika’; Tamanna bhatia
Strongly dismissing the allegations that the scene represented an attack, Tamanna said, “I don’t think I take the burden of him and, as creative people, I don’t think it was Avantika’s rape. This Avantika was looking for herself through a young man who was enticing her.”
His comment throws light on how the story intentions and public perception can often hit, especially when it comes to complex characters and stories leveled in mainstream cinema.
