Tamil filmmaker Surya Prakash, known for directing films such as Manikkam (1996), Mayayi (2000), and diwan (2003) passed away on Monday. According to news reports, the director suffered a heart attack early in the morning.
Actor Sarath Kumar, with whom Surya has collaborated Mayayi And diwanExpressed his condolences on social media on Monday.
“I spoke to him just yesterday and am shocked and saddened by the news of his sudden demise,” Sarath wrote.

Surya entered film production in 1996 with the Rajkiran starrer ‘Andaz’. Manikkam. He then said MayayiStarring Sarath and Meena, which was critically acclaimed and declared a box office hit. This film was also remade in Telugu Sinharas (2001) and in Kannada Narasimha (2012).
In 2002, Surya entered Telugu cinema. Bharatsingh Reddy (starring Rajashekhar), but the film was a failure, launching the director’s career in Telugu. diwan Surya reunited with Sarath Kumar, after which the filmmaker took a long hiatus from filmmaking, returning only in 2015 AdbarStarring Jeevan.
Details regarding Prakash’s funeral are yet to be confirmed.
