Taylor Swift broke down in tears as she recalled her intense feud with Kanye West, calling it “one of the worst times” for the Cruel Summer singer.
This emotional reflection is part of a two-part docu-series, ‘Taylor Swift vs. Scooter Braun: Bad Blood,’ which is streaming on HBO Max.
The series follows Justin Bieber’s explosive feud with his former manager Scooter Braun, which began in 2019 when Braun purchased Taylor’s master tapes from her previous record label Big Machine Records. The acquisition led to Taylor re-recording her albums in order to regain control of her music.
The Grammy Award winner and Scooter already had a falling out due to an incident involving Kanye West. The feud began in 2016, when Scooter was managing Kanye, who released the song Famous. The song contained explicit verses about Taylor, and the music video used her likeness without her consent.

Kanye and his then-wife Kim Kardashian claimed they had obtained Taylor’s permission to use her name and image, but Taylor denied this. The controversy caused Taylor to publicly distance herself, leaving her emotionally distraught.
Kanye mentioned Taylor again in a new song this year
Kanye has also mentioned Taylor in his new album ‘Vulture 1’, released this February. The rapper has mentioned Taylor in his 12th track ‘Carnival’.
The track goes like this, “Why did she say she sucked my dick? (ha) Then she said she didn’t suck my dick (ha) / She’ll take it in the ass (ha), like a potbelly (ha) / I mean since Taylor Swift, (ha) since I wore Rolly on my wrist (ha) / I’m the new Jesus, bitch (ha), I change the water for Chris (ha).”
The documentary series features a scene where Taylor reacts to the public feud with Kanye, Kim, and Scooter, admitting that it was overwhelming.
Even Taylor’s own documentary, ‘Miss Americana’, captured the moment when she realised what an impact her feud with Kanye had on her reputation. Taylor can be heard saying in the teary-eyed clip, “I’m just tired… It just… It just feels like it’s more than just music now. And it’s just, most days I’m like, okay, but then sometimes I’m like… Sometimes it gets too intense.”
Taylor recalls dark period during feud with Kanye West
Brittany Spanos, a journalist involved in the documentary series, elaborates on Taylor’s feelings: “The way she describes her feelings, sharing such an intimate experience of her life with her fans, her followers, she’s very upset that people hate her and aren’t really on her side.”
“This was a period which she found to be the darkest in her life. Her entire career was at stake and she felt she could lose everything,” she said.

Defending Taylor, her team released a statement, saying, “Taylor has fully moved on from this incident and has turned what started as an extreme situation into one of the most satisfying creative endeavors of her life. None of these people will ever be able to take away Taylor’s legacy as a songwriter, singer, director, philanthropist, and advocate for artists’ rights.”
Recently, Taylor’s boyfriend and Tavis Kelsey’s brother Jason Kelsey revealed that the two couples are enjoying “amazing” time together.
“We just want to support him and his relationship and everything that he’s doing, because everything is great right now,” he told reporters at an Eagles Autism Foundation event.
