Taylor Swift fans and Disney+ organized a special surprise for her fans in Vienna.
Taylor Swift teamed up with Disney+ to host a surprise tour for her fans in Austria on Saturday, August 10, after the singer had to cancel her plans due to a terror plot. The tour was canceled after authorities in Vienna confirmed they arrested two people who planned to attack Swift’s concerts at Ernst Happel Stadium on Friday, August 8, 9 and 10. A third person was arrested the following day, the AP reports.

What’s the special surprise in store for Swifties in Vienna?
The streaming giant joined hands with cable ORF to premiere Swift’s Disney film The Era Tour (Taylor’s Version) on television for free on Saturday night. In addition, Disney+ launched a special offer for Swifties in the region to try out its premium services and stream the film there on a 7-day trial basis starting August 10.
The premiere of the film is a small gift as compensation for having to cancel the tour due to threats of attack. “There is no choice but to cancel three scheduled shows for the safety of everyone,” the Folklore singer’s tour promoters wrote on Instagram shortly after the initial arrest of the two men.
Omar Hajawi-Pirchner, the head of Austria’s State Security and Intelligence Directorate, also provided information about the plot of a man arrested for the concert. “His aim was to kill himself and a large number of people during the concert today or tomorrow,” he said in a press conference on August 8. Omar said the arrested man intended to “attack the concert” using “explosives and knives,” as reported by People magazine.

Taylor Swift’s ‘biggest fear’: Attack at concert
The Lover singer revealed in a 2019 ELLE profile that she was scared to go on tour after the attacks at Ariana Grande’s Manchester, England concert and Jason Aldean’s Las Vegas Route 91 Harvest Festival a few years ago. Swift has never canceled tour dates due to such threats before, but she agreed that it’s one of her “biggest fears.”
While the safety of the artist and concert-goers is important, Swifties are disappointed to miss out on the chance to see their favorite artist perform live. However, her fans are not disheartened by the news. Fans flooded social media platforms with words of support for the artist.
