Los Angeles: Two children were killed and six are in a critical condition in a “horror movie”-style stabbing attack near a Taylor Swift-themed yoga class, reports mirror.co.uk.
Swift wrote on social media: “The horror of yesterday’s attack in Southport continues to sink in and I am in total shock. I am devastated by the loss of life, innocence and the terrible trauma inflicted on everyone on scene, families and first responders. These were all young children in dance class. I am completely at a loss as to how to express my condolences to these families.”
According to Mirror.co.uk, Merseyside Police have confirmed that a 17-year-old boy, from Banks Village, was arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder following a “major incident” at a property in Hart Street, Southport, Merseyside, at around 11.50am on the day of the attack.
Merced Police Chief Constable Serena Kennedy said two children were killed in the “horrific” attack, while nine children were injured and two adults were also in critical condition.
Kennedy said in a statement that the children were believed to be “attending a Taylor Swift concert at a dance school when an offender entered the premises armed with a knife and began attacking the children inside.”
He said the force believed the adults were injured while trying to “bravely” protect the children. The force said a 17-year-old boy had been arrested and would be questioned following the “major incident”, which is not being treated as terrorism-related.
