Taylor Swift introduced a small but significant addition to her Eras Tour wardrobe in Edinburgh, Scotland. During her second night at the sold-out Gas Murrayfield Stadium on Saturday, June 8, the 34-year-old wore chic black gloves during The Tortured Poets Department set. While some speculate that the Cruel Summer hitmaker was alluding to Reputation (Taylor’s version), the accessory may have been added for purely functional purposes.

The Midnights singer paired her custom white Vivienne Westwood gown with gloves that had the Fortnite lyric “I love you, it’s running my life,” written across it in cursive. Though the gloves added to her gorgeous outfit, Swift probably wore them to keep her hands warm in the cold weather.
Swift changed her outfit just a day after the first show in Edinburgh, where she was forced to stop her acoustic performance of Should’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve during the “Surprise Songs” segment. “Oh my god! Hand cramps!” she told the audience, “I’m so sorry, everyone. This has never happened before, but my hand is frozen. I’m just going to warm it up. I’m so embarrassed. My hand is like a claw!”
Fans have thoughts on why Taylor Swift wore gloves during the Eras Tour
While some fans theorized on a possible album announcement, others expressed their concern for the singer, who was struggling with the cold weather. One fan wrote on X, formerly of Twitter, “Taylor is now wearing black gloves during TTPD set after getting hand cramps from the cold yesterday (as someone not accustomed to this weather even though it’s warm for the locals, same Taylor, same.)”
Another fan wrote: “To be honest, the weather is really weird at the moment and unusually cold for this time of the year. Sorry you’re upset but even us Scots are feeling the cold.” Another added: “Yes I’m Scottish and I didn’t realise it was this cold until halfway home but I can understand why people who aren’t used to this weather would find it cold.”
