Following the foiling of the terrorist attack in Vienna, the Mayor of London assured that Taylor’s shows at Wembley Stadium would go on as planned on August 15, 16, 17, 19 and 20.
Speaking to the press, Sadiq said, “We have a lot of experience monitoring these events, we are never complacent, many lessons have been learned after the terrible attack at Manchester Arena. The police work very closely not only with City Hall, but with the council, but also with those who host concerts, such as the Taylor Swift concert that will take place in the next few weeks.”
He added: “While I’m sure Vienna has its reasons for cancelling Taylor Swift’s concert, we will continue to work closely with the police to ensure that Taylor Swift’s concerts can take place safely in London.”
Cancellation of the Vienna Music Festivals
For those who don’t know, Taylor was scheduled to perform at Vienna’s Ernst Happel Stadium on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Three people, including a 19-year-old man, were arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of planning attacks inspired by the Islamic State group at important events in the Austrian capital.
Concert organisers released a statement after the shows were cancelled, saying “Following confirmation by government authorities of a planned terrorist attack at the Ernst Happel Stadium, we have no choice but to cancel the three planned shows for the safety of everyone.”
Travis Kelce is concerned for Taylor Swift
A source told The Sun that Taylor’s boyfriend, Travis Kelce, had been speaking to her as the matter escalated. Quoted The source added, “Travis contacted Taylor very quickly and spoke to her for a while to show his support and to let her know how she was feeling in the stressful situation. He also suggested that if Taylor wanted, she could go and be with him in Austria, even if it was just for a day or two, but Taylor would continue to work and focus on the next dates along with the London concerts, in order to finish the Euro part in the best possible way.”
