The day after the Telugu film industry employees federation, a day after being called for a strike, demanded a 30 percent increment, the Telugu Film of Commerce (TFCC) has responded to negative. Passing a “resolution” unanimously, TFCC has allowed producers to appoint workers who are not part of the union.
Shooting across the Telugu cinema came to a stop on August 04, 2025 due to the strike called by the federation of Telugu film industry employees. In a notice, the Federation stated that “members should not report to shoot anywhere” until the wage hike is implemented. “The Federation decided that from August 04, 2025, 30 % increment should be given. Until the manufacturers send a letter, it is said that they will implement this growth and send it to unions, there will be no shooting.”
The Chamber said that the increase “is ineffective for small production”, saying that “all small manufacturers are against growth, as it is not in their means.” TFCC, citing the explanation of the Labor Commissioner, said that under the Minimum Wages Act, manufacturers have the right to employ workers unless the minimum wages are paid. It has also referred to the Competition Commission of India (CCI) order which prevents the associations from implementing competitive practices.
