The accused has not been freed yet: Disha Salianias’ lawyer father reacted on CBIS closure report on SSR case

New Delhi: Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput (SSR )’s recent filing of closure report by Central Investigation Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has given rise to latest debates and controversies by the Central Investigation Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Advocate Nilesh C Ojha, who represents the father of Disha Salian, has strongly responded to the CBI move, stating that a closure report has not left the accused automatically and further investigation can still be ordered.

Speaking especially to IANS, Ojha insisted that the closed report filed by the CBI in matters related to Rajputs does not mean that the accused are away from the hook.

“First, no authentic statement has been made from the CBI on the closure report. Even after a closed report is submitted, it does not mean that the accused has been freed. There is always a possibility that the court can reject the report, if it is unsatisfactory or convicted to make further evidences heated. The case,” he said.

Ojha further clarified that he had not yet seen the closure report and the CBI had not made any official or authentic statement about its findings.

He cited examples of previous high-profile cases, such as Justice Nirmal Yadav, where the courts ordered further investigation after rejecting the closure report.

He said, “The court cannot accept the closure report if it seems incomplete or unsatisfactory. In such cases, a fresh charge sheet can be filed, or even arrest warrants can be issued,” he said.

Addressing the political debates around the case, Ojha firmly rejected the notion that political motivations were running the case.

“While politicians may have their own agenda, the case is about seeking justice for Disha Salian and Sushant Singh Rajput, not political gains. The legal process should remain independent and focus on finding the truth, not influenced by political mobility.”

He also expanded the legal steps taken by Disha Salian’s father in his fight for justice. According to Ojha, Disha’s father filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in September 2023, which inspired the Maharashtra government to form a special investigation team (SIT) by December in the same year.

Ojha further stated that despite the statements of Disha’s father in support of the formation of SIT and reopening the case, there was a significant delay in action from the authorities.

“In January 2024, a formal complaint was filed by Disha’s father, including evidence and a case of gang rape and murder against persons like Aditya Thackeray. However, the complaint was delayed for several months, and despite presenting sufficient evidence, the case was not registered,” Ojha said.

The advocate highlighted the major unanswered questions in the case, which he believes that immediate attention is required.

“Disha Salian’s father is demanding answers to four important questions: Was Aditya Thackeray’s mobile tower location linked to the incident? Was he in the surrounding area at that time? Why was a false post -mortem report made? And why were the witnesses allegedly threatened?” He said.

Ojha insisted that these unresolved issues indicate serious manipulations and the need for transparency and accountability in the investigation.

He also said that the original claims made by the police, such as the story of Salian’s death from falling from the 14th floor without any visible injuries, raises doubts.

“When the post -mortem report does not show any fracture or blood loss, it raises serious questions about the authenticity of the investigation. The authorities should look into these discrepancies,” Ojha concluded.

Sushant (34), popularly known as SSR, was found dead at his Bandra Niwas on 14 June, 2020, causing a major dispute. The investigation was later handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation. His postmortem report held at Cooper Hospital in Mumbai said that the cause of death was Asphixia.
