The Indian comedy, especially political comedy, faces an existent challenge in the current socio-political climate, in a session by the Hindu in a session in the Handle, visited a leading standup comedian of India and VJ Anuradha Menon.

For his Malayali-Kodit ‘Lola Kutti’, the best changed the ego on television, Anu Menon sat for a light-high season on the opening day of the Hodel.

However, during chat, he noticed the recent crowd attack on Habitate Studios in Khar, Mumbai. The popular Comedy Club-Cum-Component Site was deception after comedian Kunal Kamra offended a political group. Soon after the incident, Habitat Studio stopped operations indefinitely.

“They (crowds) went to the Comedy Club and tracked the place when people were sitting inside,” Menon said. “For some reason, they did not realize that the comedy special is shot a few months ago, then edited, sound-mixed and later released. It is not that it is happening in real time that you can go and ask, ‘Aareri, Kunal Kamra is character? (Where is Kunal Kamra?”

Menon commented that today people are ‘easily angry’, and it is difficult to guess what they can be humiliated. And while sarcasm and political jokes often pull the heaviest fire, even appears to be a comfortable topic – as Menon makes fun of his own son – may wrongly rub the audience.
