Mumbai: We are all aware of the unfortunate murder of our former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. Bringing a terrible story on the screen, the National Award winning filmmaker Nagesh Kukunur has come up with a new series, titled “The Hunt: The Rajiv Gandhi murder case”.
Supported by applause entertainment and Kukunur films, supported by Soni Liv, the project is a cinematic transformation of ninety days of Bestseling Book by investigative journalist Anirudhya Mitra.
Leaving an exciting preview of the upcoming series, Soni Liv wrote on her official Instagram handle, “That murder shook the nation. Shocking manhunt to the world. Hunt – Rajiv Gandhi murder case, streaming on Soni Live from 4 July. #ThehuntonsonySonyliv.”
The video revealed that there was a threat to Rajiv Gandhi before the murder, which was ignored. Later, it dives into the investigation that occurred after the murder in which a lot of fingers were raised in an attempt to establish accountability for the incident.
The preview further indicates that the SIT (Special Investigation Team) was looking for someone who was working closely with the suicidal attacker.
It remains to be seen how artistic freedom has been taken while making the show.
Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated on 21 May 1991 during an election rally.
