Washington: The official full trailer for ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu’ was released on Tuesday night, marking the franchise’s high-profile jump from streaming to the big screen.
Directed by Jon Favreau, the film will be released exclusively in theaters and IMAX on May 22, 2026, expanding the beloved Disney+ series into a dramatic epic.
Based on the events of Season 3, the story follows Din Djarin and Grogu as the fledgling New Republic recruits them to hunt down Imperial warlords and war criminals scattered across the galaxy.

The official logline reads, “The evil Empire has fallen, and Imperial warlords are scattered across the galaxy. As the fledgling New Republic works to protect everything the Rebellion fought for, they enlist the help of famed Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and his young apprentice Grogu,” as quoted by Variety.
One of the biggest reveals of the trailer is Pedro Pascal appearing naked in several scenes. In a tense moment, Din Djarin is exposed to a villain; In another, he faces a giant monster without a helmet.
The emotional center of the trailer focuses on Din reflecting on his mortality, acknowledging that Grogu will live on for centuries after he’s gone, underscoring his role as adoptive father and protector.
Among the new additions, Sigourney Weaver debuts as New Republic officer Colonel Ward, who claims, “This isn’t about revenge, this is about preventing another war.”
Jeremy Allen White voices Jabba’s son Rota the Hutt, who is shown fighting Mando in a Colosseum-style arena. As Variety reports, Johnny Coyne plays a royal warlord.
The trailer features fan-favorite Zeb Orrelios serving as a New Republic pilot and features a surprise voice-over cameo from Martin Scorsese as a four-armed Ardenian food vendor who provides vital information to Mando.
Visually, the film features the return of the ST-70 gunship (Razor Crest class) as the pair’s primary ride, accompanied by a number of new and familiar creatures, including “Baby Greedo” and the mischievous Angellance.
According to Variety, The Mandalorian series is set after the fall of the Galactic Empire in ‘Star Wars: Return of the Jedi,’ in which a lone Mandalorian travels to a chaotic galaxy and forms an unexpected bond with Grogu.
Favreau produces the film alongside Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy and Lucasfilm CCO Dave Filoni.
“I love telling stories based on the rich worlds created by George Lucas. The prospect of bringing The Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is extremely exciting,” Favreau said when the project was first announced, as quoted by Variety.
