Hemanth Jois is an independent singer who is slowly but surely making his fame as a promising music director in the Kannada film industry. A self-taught guitarist and composer, he has several video albums released under his own banner – The Joyce Project and is also an active artist of the band Naik and the Joyce Project, which he founded in 2017. The band recently returned from their US tour.
Hemant talks about his latest EP, “Sleeping With The Snakes”, the first song of which, Paralyzed, was released on his YouTube channel, The Joyce Project, in April this year and has since gone viral. The uniqueness of the EP, says Hemant, is that “This is my first English song. I love rock and it has influenced me throughout my musical journey and career. Also when it comes to rock, I believe people connect when it’s about real life events or emotions. A common theme or phenomenon that everyone has experienced is betrayal. It could be betrayal by friendship, love, family or colleagues. Everyone has experienced it and I wanted to use it and make rock music for ‘Sleeping with the Snakes’ and that’s how this song came about,” says the 32-year-old self-taught guitarist, who is also the vocalist.
