The last minute India’s new track ‘Main Sach Kahun’ is raw, real and emotional. The song is a heartfelt reflection of lyricist and composer Subodh Gupta’s emotional and psychological battles with alcohol addiction.
The last minute uses story and music to tell his previous journey with the founder of India, and the band’s lyricist and the founder of the Bassist, Alcohol. The song depicts an addiction that inspired him to separate and regret him, but also gave him courage to tell the truth, accept things and change things. The feelings expressed in the song are individual, but resonated with a universal spirit, they say.

“These songs are situations, stories that are real,” says Subodh on a telephonic interaction. He was working as a data scientist for Microsoft in 2023 and balanced a passion to create music. Because of his drinking habit, he started making excuses and lied to avoid strange circumstances. “It was a difficult phase,” he remembers. “When you cannot control your habits, people tag you as an alcoholic, cheater or someone who manipulates but words in the song have given me the power to accept, tell the truth and also the desire to change.”
Feeling less after a fight with his partner, he snatched a tune and wrote an email to him with a few lines. The tune and song stayed with him and he recently showed the band and said, “I want the world to listen to this story.”
The last minute story of India began during Subodh’s engineering days. He participated in college rock competitions with his two friends Bhumit Gor (Rhythm Guitarist) and Austin Furtado (lead guitarist), but had no name for the group. After six wins, the seventh concert was a significant turn when the host was announcing the names of the attendant college band and before his turn, Subodh said to his friends: “It’s almost like the last minute of our life and we have to decide. “In 100 college competitions which India played in seven months in the last minute, they won 68.
Be honest and real

Talking about his college project turns into an emotional music exploration, he cannot remember his mother’s ‘honest and real’ mantra. “When I said that I want people to stay there, he would be with my songs, he said,” Instead of dumping the material down, serve them that you like.
