Green Day has become infamous for coming back into the spotlight for controversial reasons. The American rock band, which last branded former President Donald Trump an “idiot” at a concert in Washington DC in July, has now been banned by a pair of local radio stations in Las Vegas after a concert on September 20. Has been given.
Why did local Las Vegas radio stations ban Green Day music?
The band’s frontman Billie Joe Armstrong – who often pulls such spirited stunts – launched a verbal assault against Sin City, expressing his displeasure over moving his beloved MLB team, the Oakland A’s, away from the Bay Area. The Oakland native, once a die-hard A’s fan, directed his anger at the team’s owner, John Fisher, for executing the switch.

At a San Francisco event in late September, Armstrong said, “We don’t take crap from guys like John Fisher… I hate Las Vegas.” He also called the gambling capital of the world “the worst shit”. *Hole in America.
Billie Joe Armstrong also tampered with the logo of the popular MLB team
The punk artist’s train of verbal hate at the music show matches his previous actions of tampering with the team’s logo during a Canadian tour stop. In August, he recorded himself performing this work in the clubhouse at the Rogers Centre, home of the Toronto Blue Jays. Billy posted the clip on his social media profiles, in which he is spray painting himself a ‘B’ over the ‘A’ of the Athletics logo.
Vegas radio condemns Green Day and its frontman
Armstrong’s latest statement in San Francisco ultimately landed Green Day’s music in trouble with a pair of Las Vegas radio stations. In a sharp reaction to the American city extending their solidarity, two Vegas stations – KOMP 92.3 and X107.5 – condemned the act.

“No more Green Day,” KOMP 92.3 wrote on Instagram, as they announced that “any and all” of the band’s tracks have been removed from their playlist. The station captioned the post with ‘#vegas4ever’, adding: “It’s not us, Billy… it’s you.”
Similarly, X107.5 released a statement against the music act on its website. The website reads, “In response to Armstrong’s inflammatory comments, the station is banning all Green Day music, effective immediately.” He added, “Sin City heard it loud and clear—and X107.5 isn’t having it.”
Although the Vegas station called out Armstrong for crossing the line with city locals, many other Green Day fans and sports fans supported him in the comments of ‘ComProx’ IG post.
“Not a big fan of Green Day, but as a sports fan I understand. He’s a Gulf kid who grew up in the Bay Area where the A’s are from, where the attackers were from. I don’t think he meant it as any real insult to the city. Just discussing the game, that’s all. Could he have said it differently? Yes. But where’s the fun in that? Haha,’ someone wrote.
“Green Day doesn’t care that about 500 people won’t listen to their music in their Uber,” another Insta user commented. A third said, “I don’t like Green Day much, but it’s wrong to “cancel” them for making their point, just because you don’t agree.”
Days after delivering his tirade on stage in San Francisco, Armstrong took to his IG profile to share how much his team’s switch to Vegas hurt him.
His heartfelt post read: “I’m playing in the sand with my Oakland A’s hat on. Must be about 6 years old… The Athletics leaving Oakland is devastating. I feel for all the fans and people who will lose their jobs because of greed.. In the last 5 years 3 sports teams have left Oakland leaving a cultural hole in the hearts and sports of the East Bay. I’m sure Oakland will come back from this.. I’ll always remember driving to the Del Norte BART station to take the train to the games. Some of my favorite memories. My fourth grade teacher used to have the radio on in the classroom so we could hear if Rickey Henderson was going to break the stolen base record. He did it. Family friend Mad George Billy Ball..’
