You’re out with a large office team or at a corporate networking event, and everyone is busy on their phones.

Does this sound familiar? To make corporate outings and special office occasions even more special, Playtown by Chennai-based Media Point offers tech-based games that combine physical activity and technology together. With a variety of games including IoT-blended dance games, AI caricature artist and motion capture drumming, these games hope to create a participatory feeling.

Explaining the origin of the product, Deepak Swaminathan of MediaPoint said, “We observed a decrease in live interactions between guests at various events as they were glued to their phones. This took them away from the core of social events, which is to celebrate networking and coming together.”

Designed for all events, including corporate outings and weddings, the game promises a healthy combination of technology and gaming. “Many games these days revolve around videos, with little need for physical participation. This has given us an opportunity to combine technology with live participation, which can be carried out even in small spaces,” says Deepak.

Deepak and his team have already mastered this game. During the IPL season, their popular game, Selfie podu six podu, Guests were also enabled to connect their mobile phones to smart cricket bats and get the chance to hit sixes. There are also other fun games, such as a bonding tree that grows with each new guest that arrives, and an energy-generating cycling gig, all keeping in mind the need to foster interaction with some fun and games.

With these tech games, the makers of Playtown are targeting not just the corporate and IT community, who may see it as an alternative to expensive star hotels or resorts for team-building activities, but also for anniversary celebrations and even kitty parties. Tech-related games are here to stay.
