Mumbai: Gurcharan Singh, best known for playing the character of Roshan Singh Sodhi in the popular sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (TMKOC), is reportedly critical. According to his friend Bhakti Soni, the actor has not eaten anything or drunk water for 19 days, due to which he has been admitted to the hospital.
Speaking to Times Now, Bhakti revealed that Gurucharan was struggling physically and emotionally. “He has neither eaten food nor drunk water for 19 days. Due to this he became unconscious and was immediately taken to the hospital. When he came back he tried to find work but found nothing. He wanted to retire,” she said.
Bhakti also shared a worrying conversation she had recently. “When we last spoke on call, he said, ‘By January 13 or January 14, I will know whether I will stay on this earth or not.’ These were his words. His parents are very worried about his health, but Gurucharan is not listening to anyone.
Earlier this week, Gurucharan had posted a video from his hospital bed on Instagram. Although he did not reveal the reason for his hospitalization, he expressed gratitude on the occasion of Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti. “On the occasion of Gurpurab, Guru Sahib Ji blessed me with a new life. Infinite and unlimited thanks to Guru Sahib Ji. I also express my heartfelt gratitude to all of you. By the grace of Guru Sahib Ji, I am alive today and standing in front of you. Thank you all. God bless,” he wrote.
In the video, Gurucharan admitted that his health had taken a turn for the worse, saying, “Things have become very, very bad.”
Gurucharan was the founding star of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah and gained immense popularity for his portrayal of the vivacious and lovable Roshan Singh Sodhi. Although he left the show in 2012, he returned the next year due to public demand. Following his final exit in 2020, he was replaced by actor Balwinder Singh Suri.
The current condition of the actor has left fans and colleagues in deep concern. Messages of support and prayers have been pouring in on social media, with many hoping for his speedy recovery.
