Tom Cruise has assumed full financial responsibility for his daughter Suri’s college education as part of his divorce settlement with his ex-wife Katie Holmes. The Hollywood A-lister is reportedly paying $65,000 a year for his daughter’s education as she begins a new chapter at Carnegie Mellon University. This comes after Suri’s recent decision to remove her father’s name, whom she hasn’t met in 11 years.
Tom Cruise will pay for Suri’s college fees
According to the Daily Mail, the Mission Impossible star will pay Suri’s annual $65,000 tuition fees when she begins her first year at a private university in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The arrangement is part of Cruise’s 2012 separation agreement with Holmes, under which the actress received full custody of Suri. Cruise agreed to cover all education and related expenses for the child’s care and pay for her college fees once she turns 18.
A friend of the action star recently told the Mail, “Tom is actually paying Suri’s tuition fees; he has always paid for her schooling and he will never stop, because he is an honest person.” Earlier this week, 18-year-old Suri was spotted moving into her college dorm with her mom while her dad was busy traveling in his helicopter, presumably preparing for his next big project.

Tom Cruise will no longer pay Katie Holmes
Suri turning 18 means that Tom Cruise will no longer pay his ex-wife Katie Holmes the annual child support he had been paying for their daughter. According to their divorce agreement, Cruise was supposed to pay $400,000 a year in child support, as well as cover all of Suri’s expenses, including “medical, dental, insurance, education, college and extracurricular activities.” Suri and Cruise were last seen in public together in April 2013.
“He has never hesitated to pay his daughter’s maintenance and expenses. He never goes back on his word. He is fulfilling his obligation,” Cruz’s friend said in a statement to the Mail.

Suri does not have a good relationship with her father and this is proved by her recent move as she has dropped the infamous ‘Cruz’ surname from her name and decided to keep her mother’s middle name Noel instead. She had changed her name to Suri Noel before enrolling in college.

The mother-daughter duo was spotted walking to school together with bags. Earlier, the young starkid, who looks just like her mother, grabbed everyone’s attention with her cool style and her PDA-filled relationship with her high school boyfriend, who is also a musician. Reportedly, she will be sharing a female hostel room with other students at the university.
