Tom Hanks’ son, Chet Hanks, recently admitted to abusing drugs in the past. During his appearance on the latest episode of the Raw Talk podcast, the 33-year-old actor recalled taking so much cocaine that even “cokeheads” told him to “chill.”
Chet Hanks admits to past drug use
The Greyhound actor revealed that although he no longer does drugs, he has struggled with cocaine in the past. “The only drug I had the most trouble with was cocaine, man,” the Empire star told podcaster Bradley Martin. “I’m addicted to cocaine, of course. Not anymore, but that’s my drug of choice — cocaine, bro, like Tony Montana,” he confessed.
Chet revealed that he would often meet fellow drug users in the club’s bathroom, calling them “known cokeheads.” “You’re like, ‘I know this guy’s a cokehead, but I need a little push.’ Like, ‘OK, OK,'” he said. “I used to go get coke with cokeheads, and they’d tell me, ‘Yo, calm down, bro. … Wait a second. Give it 15 minutes,'” the Your Honor star said.
He further added that at that time, he “couldn’t get enough” of the harmful drug. However, nothing changed as he realised that cocaine was not only “very bad” for his heart health, but also for his “soul”. “It’s horrible. It eats away at you [at you]”You just, like, wilt because you can’t eat, you can’t sleep,” Chet said.
This isn’t the first time the Shameless star has opened up about struggling with drug abuse. In 2015, Chet revealed in a video posted on Instagram that he had gone to rehab. “A few months ago, I was selling coke, smoking coke until I couldn’t put it in my nose anymore because it was too full. I also smoked crack,” he revealed at the time.
