The wait is over, Happy Gilmore fans! One of the most anticipated sequels in cinematic history is finally happening. Adam Sandler’s iconic character is returning to the golf course, and this time, he’ll face a powerful opponent in NFL superstar Travis Kelce.
The Kansas City Chiefs player is set to make a cameo in Happy Gilmore 2, a role confirmed by none other than Sandler himself, who never tires of praising the star tight end for being charismatic and funny. This comes after Kelce publicly expressed his desire to be a part of the sequel.

Kelsey, who has been scoring big both on and off the field since he began dating pop sensation Taylor Swift last summer, is making quite a splash in Hollywood. “We have something sweet for Travis,” the comedian hinted on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday, teasing Kelsey’s role in the Netflix film.

Kelce, 57, couldn’t stop praising the athlete, highlighting not only his humor but also his big, charismatic presence. Beyond his football career, Kelce is also an avid golfer. Well, we’ve all seen how entertaining Kelce can be, especially on his New Heights podcast with his brother, retired NFL great Jason Kelce. It was on that same podcast where he first expressed his desire to be a part of Happy Gilmore 2, and now that wish is coming true.
“He’ll definitely come. He’s a great guy. You guys would love him in real life. What a great, handsome guy. Really funny and cool. He’s a stud and he’s a lot of fun,” Sandler said.
When Kelce expressed her desire to be a part of Happy Gilmore 2
In May, the 34-year-old expressed his eagerness to land a role in Sandler’s long-awaited Happy Gilmore sequel, saying he would “do anything” for the opportunity. Travis, who describes himself as a “huge Sandman fan,” shared that he would jump at the chance to star alongside Sandler, though he jokingly described the idea as merely “a conspiracy theory.”
Kelsey said at the time, “I didn’t even know there was a vacancy on Happy Gilmore 2. I’d be an extra… Happy Gilmore, an Adam Sandler movie or anything to do with the set – count me in.”

Happy Gilmore Season 2 Release Date Update
A casting call for the film was held earlier that day in New Jersey, and production is expected to begin in the coming weeks. While plot details of how Gilmore’s golf career will be revived remain uncertain, one thing is clear: fans of the original Happy Gilmore film were overjoyed when Netflix announced a sequel would be released in May 2024. A release date has not yet been confirmed.
In addition to his role in Happy Gilmore 2, Kelce will also make his acting debut in the upcoming Ryan Murphy horror series Grotesquerie. According to Rolling Stone, he is also set to star in the big-screen police comedy Loose Cannons.
