Guwahati: Tributes were paid to Bhupen Hazarika on his birth anniversary on Sunday with special programmes being organised to mark the occasion and the compositions of the music wizard resonated across Assam.

The state government organised a cultural programme at the mausoleum of the ‘Maharaja of Brahmaputra’ at Jalukbari on the outskirts of the city.
Assam Cultural Affairs Minister Bimal Bora paid floral tribute to Hazarika’s memory at the Samadhi area, where a cultural programme was also organised.
The Bhupen Hazarika Cultural Trust also organised a programme to pay tribute to the late artiste.
As part of the programme, 99 flags were hoisted by eminent personalities from various fields while songs of the music maestro were also rendered on the occasion.
Education Minister Ranoj Pegu also hoisted the flag at the event and urged people to adopt the ideals of brotherhood and harmony preached by Hazarika in their lives.
