Kerala: Actor Unni Mukundan has broken his silence on the recent allegations of the attack by Vipin Kumar, his former manager, Vipin Kumar.
At a press conference held in Kochi, Mukundan clarified that there was no physical attack and the dispute was incorrectly presented.
“This is not an attack case. There was no physical violence,” said, “as a friend, I only wanted to face Wikin as to why he was speaking negatively about me. During the warm exchange, I threw his sunglasses – this is true. But there was no physical contact.”
Mukundan further alleged that Wikin Kumar, who managed the actor’s career for six years, is already facing several complaints from within the film industry.
He said, “There are cases against Vipin in Fafka. More than one actress contacted film organizations with complaints about her,” she said, Vikin is not a registered member of the Film Employees Federation of Kerala.
The dispute erupted after the FIR filed by Vipin Kumar on 26 May, accusing him of a physical attack and issuing threats during a confrontation in the basement parking of Mukundon’s apartment complex in Kochi and issuing threats.
“They called me for a meeting. When I arrived, he shouted at me, punched and hit me. Another man had to take steps to stop him,” Vipin asked reporters.
Kumar claimed that the incident may have been impressed by disappointment on the lukewarm industry’s reaction to Mukundan’s recent film Marco.
“After the release of the film, he was disappointed that the top directors were not reaching out. He instigated me the frustration,” Vipin said.
In response, Mukundan lodged a counter-complaint with the Director General of Police (DGP) of Kerala, stating that he has been targeted in a wrong and malicious manner. “Two weeks ago, I received a call from an unknown number. The caller named many people, including Vipin. When I realized that something was wrong,” the actor said.
The actor also addressed a broad pattern of disputes around his career. He said, “Allegations have been made against me earlier. Some also said that the RSS has funded my film Mappadian. The truth is that, I pledged my house and finished that film.” He also indicated that there may be a large network behind the current dispute, saying, “I suspect that more people are trying to bring me down.”
Confirming his honor for his colleagues, Mukundan said he maintains a strong relationship with fellow actor Tovino Thomas despite rumors.
“I never said anything about Tovino. We are very close friends,” he clarified.
Mukundan expressed his deepest gratitude to the people of Kerala to support his journey in cinema and said, “I have worked hard to bring out my films. I will continue to do so with honesty.”
The incident occurred a few months later, when Uni Mukundan played his role in January this year as a treasurer of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA), citing mental health and professional stress from his role.
She resigned shortly after Amma’s Executive Committee, including President Mohanlal, of Justice. In view of the report of the Hema Committee, he tendered its resignation, which faced widespread challenges faced by women in the Malayalam film industry.
