Mumbai: A day after Diwali celebrations, actress Vaani Kapoor, who is currently in the national capital, has expressed concern over New Delhi’s deteriorating air quality, and hopes that next year, there will be a way to celebrate “without diluting the air we breathe”.

Vaani shared on Instagram that she woke up to the dangerous AQI reaching 447 in New Delhi.

He wrote, “When I woke up in the morning, Delhi’s AQI reached 447, one of the highest in the world today. Maybe next year, we’ll find a way to celebrate without diminishing the air we breathe.”

Earlier this year, Vaani made her OTT debut with Mandala Murders, based on the novel The Butcher of Banaras. Set in the fictional town of Charandaspur in Uttar Pradesh, it blends mystery, supernatural horror and psychological thriller elements.

The series follows detectives Ree Thomas and Vikram Singh as they investigate ritual murders linked to a secret cult, Ayastis, and a mythical entity called Yaast. It explores the themes of faith versus science and love versus sacrifice while combining modern police procedurals with occult practices.

The series also stars Vaibhav Raj Gupta, Surveen Chawla, Raghubir Yadav and Shriya Pilgaonkar in lead roles.

She will be next seen in Badtameez Gill directed by Navjot Gulati. The film also stars Aparshakti Khurana, Paresh Rawal, Sheeba Chaddha, Richard Bhakti Klein and Monica Choudhary.

The 37-year-old actress made her Bollywood debut in 2013 with the film Shuddh Desi Romance alongside Sushant Singh Rajput and Parineeti Chopra.

She later starred with Nani in the Tamil remake Aaha Kalyanam, for which she learned Tamil, but it proved to be a box-office failure.

In 2016, Vaani was seen in Befikre opposite Ranveer Singh, which was set in Paris, but despite its vibrant setting, the film was unsuccessful. After a short hiatus, she returned in 2019 with War opposite Hrithik Roshan.

She was then seen alongside Akshay Kumar in the 2021 film Bell Bottom, which was inspired by real incidents of hijacking in India by Khalistani terrorists during the 1980s, such as the Indian Airlines Flight 423, 405 and 421 hijackings.

After this, Vaani was seen in Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui, in which she played the role of a transgender woman.

Her next film is Shamshera with Ranbir Kapoor. After a short break, she appeared in Khel Khel, a group comedy and in 2025, she starred opposite Ajay Devgan in Raid 2, which was her first box-office success after War.
