Wani Kapoor’s statement has come in the form of his upcoming film ‘Abir Gulal’, which is increasing backlash. The recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam has expressed displeasure on social media, calling many to boycott the film. As the tension increases, Ashok Pandit, president of the Indian Film and Television Directors Association, has strongly opposed the film’s release. He said, “This incident is a war work against the nation. This is not the first time … These attacks have been going on for 30 years. We, as a federation, requested Pakistanis with folded hands not to work. They come with Bulls. The family members of the makers were shot by the terrorists, they did not work (with Favad).”
Originally scheduled for a global release on 9 May, ‘Abir Gulal’ includes the lead roles include Favad Khan, Wani Kapoor, Sony Razdan and Ridh Dogra. However, it is important to note that the release of the film has now been stopped in India.
On Tuesday, gunmen attacked tourists in Pahgam’s Basaron Valley, Jammu and Kashmir. The attack occurred, one of the worst in the recent history, around 2:30 pm and claimed the lives of at least 26 people, including two foreigners.
