Veda Producer Nikhil Advani accuses CBFC of delaying the film’s approval

Mumbai:

Nikkhil Advani, producer of upcoming film “Veda” starring John Abraham, has accused the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) of delaying the clearance to the film.

On Instagram, Nikkhil Advani shared a joint post with John Abraham, Zee Studios, Abhishek Banerjee and Emme Entertainment, stating: “We, the makers of ‘Veda’, feel compelled to share with our fans and supporters that despite our best efforts, we are yet to receive clearance and certification from the CBFC of India.

“Following protocol, we applied for certification eight weeks before the scheduled release. Our film was screened for the CBFC on June 25. Thereafter, we were pushed to a revised committee review without any clarification as to what the concerns or objections of the esteemed examining committee were.”

The post further read, “It is our heartfelt request and desire that these words reach those who can help us resolve and overcome this impasse and get our film certified. 15th August is a special date on which we feel fortunate to find ourselves in a position to bring our film in front of the fans of John Abraham and Nikkhil Advani, who supported our previous releases ‘Satyameva Jayate’ and ‘Batla House’ on the same date.”

Describing ‘Veda’ as a powerful and entertaining film inspired by contemporary events, the post said: “We believe it deserves to reach the audience it reaches. It is our sincere effort that we will be able to maintain our engagement with you.”

‘Veda’, starring John Abraham, Abhishek Banerjee and Sharvari, will release on August 15, clashing with Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao’s ‘Stree 2’ and Akshay Kumar’s ‘Khel Khel Mein’.
