Vicky Kaushal, who is known to win both the audience and critics with his powerful performance, is allegedly in discussion to portray the legendary filmmaker and actor Guru Dutt in an upcoming biopic. The versatile actor has left a permanent impact with films like ‘Sardar Udham’ and ‘Sam Bahadur’, which shows his ability to handle emotionally complex roles.
Guru dutt biopic
According to a recent Mid-Day report, Vicky Kaushal is the top contenders to step into the shoes of prestigious Guru Dutt, known for timeless classics such as ‘Pyaar’, ‘Kagaz Ke Phool’, and ‘Sahib Bibi Bibi Aur Ghulam’.
The report further stated that Ultra Media and Entertainment Group, who owns the rights of films of Guru Dutt, is planning to convert some of its most famous works into a web chain, as well as developing a feature-length biopic on its life and heritage.
Ultra’s COO and director Rajat Aggarwal shared insight into the early development of the project: “While biopics are always challenging because they need to follow a person’s greatness and achievements, we will be happy to collaborate with producers and a modern day director who is a radicalist of Guru Dutt, and see where the project goes.
Aggarwal also revealed that he has started a conversation with two famous directors for both web customization and biopic.
“I have spoken to two highly revered directors, who are interested in re -making their films in the web series and making a film on our lives. Once we have something certain, we can talk about it in detail. We are in touch with their family members.”
For the actor who can do justice to Guru Dutt’s fine personality and sadness attraction? Aggarwal commented: “Today, given the abundance of talent, it is difficult to take the name of only one. But I believe Vicky Kaushal has the ability to portray Guru Dutt ji’s emotional depth.”
Vicky Kaushal’s upcoming projects
Beyond this biopic, Vicky Kaushal will be seen next time with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s much awaited film Love and War, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. However, the shooting of the film has recently suffered a delay due to heavy monsoon rains in Mumbai, causing significant damage to the set.
A source quoted by mid-day said: “It was an important dramatic sequence that was set out and required specific lighting. But with the waterfall and unexpected weather, it became impossible to move forward. Bhansali Sir did not want to compromise on the scene’s visual quality or safety of his crew.
Both actors, Kaushal and Kapoor, have gone through physical changes, including alleged weight loss for their respective roles in war and their respective roles.
