New Delhi: The state of Vijay Devarakonda has faced calls for the ban in Madurai, Tamil Nadu and Tamil leaders condemned the alleged depiction of Sri Lankan Tamils in negative light. A report in India stated that members of a pro-Tamil party, name Tamiller Kachi (NTK), a pro-Tamil party, staged a protest outside theaters in Trichie, seeking a ban on screening of the film.
The group has called manufacturers to hurt Tamil emotions.
The members were also angry with the producers for the name of the film’s opposition after the Tamil Devta, Lord Murugan. The report states that Sri Lankan Tamils were depicted as “villains”.
“Movie Damans LTTE (liberation tiger of Tamil Eelam) and fighters and Izam Tamils. They fought and died for 30 years, but are shown as people living in mountainous regions. It is an attempt to be bent and we cannot do justice yet.
NTK Vijay demands a ban on Davwakonda state
The NTK began staging protests outside various theaters across the state, as demanded a ban on the Kingdom screening in Tamil Nadu. In some places, the protests allegedly became violent, forcing the police to intervene.
The report further states that the group alleges that the film depicts the history and identity of Tamils in a poor light. Protests have taken place in many places.
The distributors of the film in Tamil Nadu have now demanded police protection from the Madras High Court.

The Kingdom is directed by Govatam Tinnuri and was released in theaters on 31 July. The film features Vijay Dawakonda, Satyadeva and Venkatesh in the lead roles. The set in Sri Lanka follows the character of the film Vijay Devarakonda, who is an undercover policeman on a mission to meet his brother.
The makers of the film recently confirmed that it would soon be a premiere on OTT via streaming platform Netflix.
