After years of uncertainty, ‘Doostana 2’ is finally on track – this time with a revived artists. The film, once in the lead roles of Karthik Yahvi Kapoor, and newcomer Laxman, was given shelter indefinitely despite several announcements, photoshoots and much discussion. While the exact cause of the cold storage was never officially revealed, the project had faded in the background so far.
Vikrant Masi in Dostana 2?
Producer Karan Johar has breathed a new life in the sequel. According to recent reports, the film is once again in speed under religion, with some notable casting changes. Laxman, who was always expected to start with this film, is still on board. However, the role of Karthik Aryan has now been reportedly submitted to the ’12th failed’ star Wickran Massey. Meanwhile, Janhvi Kapoor will no longer be part of the project. Her character will be painted by a newcomer, whose casting is yet to be finalized.
A report by Pinkvilla quoted a source as saying, “Dorostana 2 has been in development in religion for some time, and the manufacturers have cracked an ideal script that can move the franchise in a progressive manner. Vikrant Masi will be launched with Laxman in Dostana 2, and a debut pad will be launched as a debut.
The film is being imagined as a big screen entertainer, promising a mixture of romance, comedy, music and drama-true for the style of the 2008 anterior. The source said, “Dostana 2 is being conceptualized as a dramatic film, with friends, comedy, romance and drama. Negotiations are going on with filmmakers, and a director will be closed in a fortnight.”
Wirent Massey announced a break from films
Interestingly, this update comes only a few months after the wicking Massey declares a temporary break from acting to focus on his personal life a few months after surprising fans. In December 2024, the actor posted on social media to step back to spend time with his family. Nevertheless, he is currently in the final stages of shooting Sri Sri Ravi Shankar biopic, and reports suggest that he may also be part of ‘Don 3’ in the near future.
