Mumbai: Actor Vikrant Massey’s film “Sector 36”, a crime thriller, will have its world premiere at the 15th Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM).
Talking about the premiere, Vikrant said: “It is a momentous occasion for me, along with Maddock Films, Jio Studios and Netflix, that our film – ‘Sector 36’ is having its world premiere at IFFM 2024. We are honoured to bring the film to the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne.”
The crime-thriller, which also stars Deepak Dobriyal, marks the directorial debut of Aditya Nimbalkar S and jointly produced by Maddock Films and Jio Studios, is scheduled to release on September 13, 2024.
The film is said to be inspired by true events. It depicts the horrifying story of the disappearance of several children from a local slum. “Sector 36” is the story of a police officer who encounters a serial killer and during a terrifying investigation, dark secrets and disturbing events are revealed.
Vikrant added, “This is an important story that needs to be seen and I can’t wait to show Australian audiences and the Indian diaspora what we are capable of creating.”

Talking about Vikrant, he started his career with television and he started his acting career with ‘Dhoom Machao Dhoom’. He caught everyone’s attention by working in the social drama show ‘Balika Vadhu’, which talked about the issue of child marriage.
He made his film debut in 2013 with Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha starrer “Lootere”. After which he was seen in big films like “Dil Dhadakne Do”, “Lipstick Under My Burkha”, “Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare”, “Haseen Dillruba” and “12th Fail” which changed his graph forever. Apart from being a good actor, Vikrant is also a trained contemporary or jazz dancer and has worked with Shiamak Davar.
