Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri and lyricist Manoj Muntashir have given heartfelt tribute to mythological actor and filmmaker Manoj Kumar after his death.

Both expressed their deep praise and respect for their immense contribution to Indian cinema, remembering their prestigious roles and permanent impact on industry. The author revealed that it was from his hero that he learned the true meaning of love for India.

In his Instagram post, Muntashir admitted how Kumar’s work and patriotism inspired him to express his love for the country through his art. He shared a picture of the actor and gave it a caption, “I am always proud of it, that my name matches you. The first lesson of patriotism was taught by your films. Love for India is something that I learned from Bharat Kumar. If it was not for you, it would not exist to write ‘Terry Mitti’. Goodbye, my hero!

Veteran actor and filmmaker Manoj Kumar died on Friday at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital at the age of 87. He was admitted to the hospital on February 21, 2025, after his health deteriorated considerably.

CEO of Kokilaben Ambani Hospital and Executive Director Dr. Santosh Shetty said in a statement, “Veteran actor Mr. Manoj Kumarji died at around 3:30 am today due to age -related health issues at Kokilaben Ambani Hospital. He was hospitalized for the last few weeks.”

Manoj Kumar, who is known as ‘Bharat Kumar’ for his patriotic roles, was a huge person in Hindi cinema.

Born on July 24, 1937, in Amritsar, Punjab as Harikrishna Goswami, he left an indelible impression on the industry. His prestigious performance in films like “Martyr,” “Cess,” and “Rang de Basanti” resulted in depth with the patriotic sentiments of the Indian public.

One of the most successful actors of the 60s and 70s, Manoj Kumar acted in “Shor,” Do Budan “,” Roti Cupa and Maken, “Purba and Paschim,” and many more and many more great films. Beyond acting, he also contributed significantly as a director and producer.

Manoj Kumar also entered politics and after his retirement from films, officially joined the BJP.
