Indie artist Vivek Verma has managed to strike a balance between making music he is passionate about and music his audience will love. His latest video single ‘Raahat’, was born out of his desire to create something ‘soothing and ambient’. When the concept of ‘Raahat’ took shape, he shared its draft with his friends and owner of independent music label Loop Beats Entertainment. “A&R Divyanshu Dixit and Yatendra Meghwal (co-founder of the label and director of the video) loved the sound. They decided I could bring the entire track to life and shoot a video, a journey that took us to Uttarakhand and Chandigarh,” says Vivek.
The creative process for an artist is a constant journey, but there comes a moment when a special work finally comes to light. For Vivek, ‘Rahat’ is that song. After two prolific years of creating a diverse collection of songs spanning multiple genres from synthwave and pop to R&B and ambient music, Vivek has created a unique blend in ‘Rahat’. “Rahat is a A mix of ambient and romantic pop ballads, “Filled with the essence of soulfulness and lo-fi vibe and enriched with refreshing sonic elements,” Vivek explains, “it has a high recall value that appeals to listeners.”

As a lyricist and composer, Vivek balances both roles in an intricate manner, recognising them as separate but interconnected aspects of the creative process. “Music creation and sound designing are the fundamental and most complex parts. Writing the lyrics comes later, but each element carries its own emotional weight. The main challenge lies in music creation and sound designing, which sets the tone for the entire track.”
The biggest feeling listeners get from ‘Raahat’ is the feeling of a rich, soothing sound that is contained in a pop ballad track. “I maintained the concept of minimalism in terms of sound selection and made sure that every element was sonically aesthetic and appealing to Generation A and Generation Z.”
Collaboration Group
Vivek has forged many partnerships in his musical journey; he says he has always preferred collaborations based on the passion of the artists and the emotional depth of their work, rather than rushing through new content. “I judge how well we connect with the emotion of the song, and then work on it.”
Despite starting his indie journey amid the pandemic, Vivek’s previous collaborations kept him going. “My previous work with Himesh Reshammiya, which collectively garnered over 4.5 billion hits on YouTube, helped me a lot. My sound designing skills have improved a lot through constant listening and daily compositions. With a dedicated team managing the release process, I have built a huge song bank.”
Looking ahead to the future, Vivek is excited about an exciting future project – blending R&B and trap with traditional Indian elements, promising another innovative sonic experience for his audience.
