Is it not interesting to document the life of a documentator? Meet TS Gopal, who collected records and started his journey as a documentator. In the last 60 years, their collection has increased extensively. An encyclopedia and video editing on music is also known as a magician, Gopal says: “Although it all started in a pre-technology era, I have now adopted technology happily. Till date I have posted 2,400 pieces of music on my Facebook, which have liked many. I have many difficult discs.”
To be surrounded by music, Gopal worked for a year in Super Radio Services, a shop that sold records in Kembur, Mumbai.
What kind of music is he interested in? “Initially, I was in Hindi film music, because I grew up in Mumbai. But later taken to Hindustani, Karnataka, South Indian film songs, pop and opera. I became a hobby compared to various styles of music and the film was documented for equality for the use of ragas in music and film songs. I once heard a tune on the scale of Mumblela. Alayamani), Music director and singer Ms. Vishwanathan has used the Maymalavagovala scale and has given an Arabic taste to the song. I came to know that the scale is also used in Greek music, as in the song ‘Missarlau’. In Opera ‘Samson and Delilah’, ‘Bara Barail’ is also on the same scale. Lyrics, ‘Ghar Aaya Mera Paradsy’ (Se Rogue) The Indubhairavi is in the scale, but Arabic is the colors of music. Various Hindi music composers have used six tunes from the same album of Arabic music. Through a friend with a connection in Bollywood, I visited the recording studio in Mumbai. On one occasion, I found many musicians using Sindhubhairavi. The same set of violin players was played for all of them. But his integrity was such that the violin player never revealed the tune of a musician.

Indian film songs also show the effect of pop, folk and country songs, Gopal says, some Hindi songs are listed which are inspired by a hit from the West.,Onnum Onnum Rendu is based on the song ‘Yaaradi Nee Mohini’ (film Uthamaaputhiran) based on ‘Sweet and Komal’ of Ben E King, while ‘Partha Banbagam Ilaiyo’ (Se ‘(Se’ Putia Parvai,Pop song ‘Sve’. Gopal is fascinated by counter-models in the film songs. “I use a certain software to remove the voice and increase background music. Then you will notice the counter-melodi in the song. Sometimes, this is a completely different tune.” Putia Parvai) And ‘Avala Sonal’ (from Selevam) There are interesting counters. I especially appeal to him in the compositions of Shankar Jekishan, ”Gopal shares.
In addition to gathering such information and collecting records, Gopal had a sitar lesson from Ustad Ahmed Hussain Khan, which was part of the circle of popular composer KV Mahadevan. For example, he played the sitar in songs like ‘Enanathan Ragasiamo’ and ‘Maleragal Nanandhana’. Idya Kamalam“Ustad played in Telugu film Sita Kalyanam, By which a mention found in a review Hindu,
Asked if Tyagaraja Kriti is sung in any film, Gopal immediately replied, “In the Telugu film Missamma, Pee Leela sings ‘Thayagaraja’s Ragasandharas’ for Savitri. ,
Apart from film songs, Gopal uploaded Thukkad sung by various Karnataka artists to drive a pen drive and gift them to a senior citizen house residents. At the request of a friend in the US, he compiled 200 such thorns. “Children in America learned him and sang him in Navri Kols.”
Gopal believes that he is not worthy of any credit for his work. “Is a man only worth the credit for robbing flowers in a garden? I only do what is available, to collect,” they say.
